The sun has finally decided to make a lengthy appearance, and the cold bite of winter is slowly being replaced by the warmth of spring. White puffs carrying seeds float gently in the air while the wind guides them to their new destinations, sometimes landing inside our bedroom and kitchen. During this time my baking muse made a sudden appearance, but it decided to return with its friend that I like to call "Mrs.Nesting." Oh boy, am I nesting.
Greg and I had an appointment with the Immigration lawyer on Friday, so we took a trip down to Auckland accompanied by sweaty palms and apprehension. The past year has been so full of bad news that we were expecting the immigration adviser to inform us that I had to return to the USA for a year and half. Turns out, all our worrying was for naught since we're not only following everything by the book, but he's 100% certain that I will be able to reapply within two months and remain here in NZ. We couldn't help it, we started laughing and dancing as soon as we were out of the office (tears also may or may not have happened on my behalf). With the good news, we set out to purchase some items that we were holding off until we received notice that I would be able to live here longer than six months. A few kitchen and bath supplies later, I was cleaning up a storm and organizing all the gifts my mom and sister sent me during the week. Our house finally looks like a home!
Since I'm not familiar with the oven that came with the house (considering it's from the 70's), I made an easy recipe to see if the thing even worked! Turns out it does, and the cheese scones came out amazing. The nesting and cooking monster doubled teamed and smacked me alongside the head a day after, and the result was a delicious batch of cornbread muffins.

I've been knitting for an hour a day in between cooking and cleaning, and my scarf is finally taking shape. As I mentioned in my previous post, I plan on making this an infinity scarf, so the length is going to seem quite outrageous at first.
The scarf is already reaching 47 inches, just a little more and I'll have enough to wrap it around my neck comfortably. With luck, I should be able to finish this sometime this week. :] I'll post updates as soon as I have time, but for now, I'll just end with a note:
Hey Rike and everyone from Connecticut!
