We had a rather nasty snowstorm this week and two of my main classes were cancelled because of it. To make up for lost time, I showed up to my ceramics class much earlier than what was required and completed two plates and a small jewelry bowl. Since a total of three people (myself included) showed up to class, we had personal hands on training and instruction from my professor. Can't beat that!
The picture on the left is the bottom of one of the plates that I was working on. There were still areas that I had to smooth before flipping the piece over to smooth out the areas on the inside. I'm not quite sure what color glaze I'd like to use, but I'm thinking about something rather light and earthy.

My illustration is proceeding at a rather snow pace, but even at my terrible turtle speed, I'm still on track! The image is a little dull due to the fact that it's an iPhone picture, but you can see the small progress that I made during a 3 hour session yesterday.
For next week's post, I'd like to review one of the many cross stitch magazines and books that my mother brought over from Brazil during her last trip. If enough interest is shown on a certain design, I'd be more than happy to take a proper picture of the pattern and translate any important areas from Portuguese to English.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
