After playing copious amounts of 3DS games this past week, I was inspired to get back into pixel art and add another skill to my Illustration portfolio. The picture above shows my original self-portrait that I made for this blog on MS Paint a few months ago, but the more I looked at it, the more I hated it. I started reworking the piece last night and ended up with the result on the right. Although there's still a lot more to do to the piece, you can see that the image has improved quite drastically.
I posted the image on Reddit, and within 20 minutes, I received my first pixel art commission! I was quite shocked that someone was interested in my tiny little self-portrait and wanted me to make a little logo for them. The tiny little frog (that still needs legs and a body) is the beginning of the commission.
The biggest issue I'm having as a newbie in the world of pixel art is figuring out the anti-aliasing and avoiding shadow clouding. The pixel art community on Reddit has already given me tons of valuable advice, and the only way I can improve is to (of course) practice.
Looks like I found a new hobby to work on over the summer. :]

As for the trip to Puerto Rico, let's just say it was a bit of a disaster in terms of family drama. The only saving grace was the trip to Arecibo Observatory (pictured above).
