It's been a CRAZY couple of weeks here between the snow storms and the large amount of work for my senior portfolio. Regarding my illustrations, I finally finished Water and added a few pearls here and there to give her a mermaid feel. I'll upload a picture once I have everything organized!
The Art and Theater Departments are moving to the new Art building a few minutes from the main WCSU campus. In order to get rid of their leftover items, the theater department hosted a free item event which featured fabrics, clothing/costumes, art books and shoes for any student to take for free. The event started at 9am, but I was there at 8:30am elbow deep in a large cardboard box. The event goes on for two weeks with new items being added every morning, so I expect to add onto my haul that's pictured above. I can't wait to start sewing once my senior portfolio is done!
Ceramics is becoming quite fun, especially since my professor allows me to use the wheel every class period. However, I'm still terrible when it comes to picking out a glaze! In fact, my plates turned out to be this horrible army green that I'm too embarrassed to show. I might just stick with muted glaze colors and stay far away from the element glazes. The vases above are a couple of news ones that I made in the past few weeks. They're very simple, but for someone who just started, I'm quite proud of how they look!
I usually don't post about anything that's not craft related, but one of the reasons why I neglected to update my blog last week is because one of my cats fell horribly ill. We had to take Toby (the chubsters pictured above) to the animal hospital and was forced to leave him there for a few days while they sedated and examined him. Turns out Toby has a rather nasty hairball that collected in his stomach and refuses to pass. He's currently on medication that makes him incredibly sleepy, but at least his (much) skinnier brother is keeping him company while he completes his treatment.
The upcoming weeks are going to be very stressful so I may neglect this blog for a little while until I finish all my work. If anything, the upcoming posts will feature more art related updates rather than crafty ones.
