Happy Valentine's Day!
Brazil is one of the few countries in the world that still values handmade gifts over store bought ones. The time that a person takes to complete a gift is not taken for granted since many men and women personally know the hard work that each piece requires. Everywhere you go in Brazil there are stores that sell magazines and books dedicated to arts and crafts, each one more unique than the other.
Today I want to talk about the Guia de Ouro - Ponto Cruz book that my mother brought over from Brazil a few months ago. I apologize in advance for the glare in each picture!

There are more than a thousand patterns in this book and I personally love how each chapter caters to different tastes.
The book begins with different types of lettering and images that match some of the styles. I absolutely LOVE cows so I simply had to share the adorable "Mimi the Cow" pattern! Whenever I have time, I personally want to make a cute apron featuring her.
The next few chapters focus on baby shower patterns, designs for teens and kitchen patterns for towels and dishcloths. I personally used some of the baby shower patterns for a few towels to use in my kitchen (they're just so cute!)
I love seeing the differences between cross stitching from Brazil and the USA. I find that Brazilian cross stitching is so much more vibrant and playful, and you can get away with having towels full of giraffe's and fruits without it being considered "childish."
All in all, I have used and abused this book countless times and every time I open the book, I find a new design that I can't wait to sink my teeth in. If you're interested in some of the patterns that I featured above or if you want to see more, please leave a comment! I'll be more than happy to scan some pages for you guys. :D
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
